5 Reasons To Attend the Lebanon BrewHAHa

As event planners, we do not just help people plan their perfect wedding. While we do that, we also work on so many other events. One of those events is a Craft Beer Festival called the Lebanon BrewHAHa. On April 25th, 2015 hundreds will gather at the Warren County Fair Grounds to taste craft beer, eat some great food, and enjoy some amazing entertainment. Still on the fence about whether or not to purchase a ticket? Well then you definitely need to read the reasons below as to why you should!

1. BEER, BEER, and more BEER. This is a craft beer festival and tasting featuring 12 different brewing companies. With all these breweries, everyone is bound to enjoy some great tasting beers.

2. Did someone say food trucks? We cannot have everyone drinking and not provide some options for food. There will be grilled food, ice cream, grilled cheese and even waffles making food not a problem for those in attendance.

3. The Entertainment: After all, it is a BrewHAHa. We would not be very good at our jobs if we did not supply impressive entertainment. There will be three different comedians and, of course, some great music from Vanguard.

4.  Different Ticket Options: We know not everyone is the same so we have offered different packages for attendance. You may want VIP ($65) or General Admission ($45). You may be the Designated Driver ($15) or just want to come for the entertainment ($10). Even if you make up your mind last minute you can buy your ticket at the door ($55). Whatever you decide there is an option for you. PLUS, if you use the promo code: SIMPLY you will get $10 off your ticket (Only valid for VIP and General Admission tickets).

5. All for a good cause. This event is not all about beer tasting and entertainment. Rather by attending the event (purchasing your ticket) you are helping the Lebanon Symphony Orchestra Chorus and Youth Orchestra. Meaning while you are having fun, you are also supporting a great cause!

Still undecided? Check out http://www.lebanonbrewhaha.com/ for more information and to purchase your tickets!

Want to do more? Become a sponsor of the event! We would love to have you!!

So mark your calendars, find a babysitter, and purchase your ticket to attend the first annual Lebanon BrewHAHa.

Hope to see you there!!!

3 DIY Tablescape Decor Projects

With more ideas than anyone has time to think about on Pinterest, do it yourself, or DIY, projects are the new craze. But how do you use this in your wedding? And how do you choose projects that won’t look like your 5-year-old little cousin made it at craft time in preschool? Here are three fun and fool-proof DIY’s that will give your wedding tables some extra flair.

1. PHOTO TABLE RUNNER

This DIY doubles as a memorable decoration and a fun project for you and your significant other to work on in the months leading up to the big day. {TIP: start sorting through your photos early so that you are not stressed out about making these runners 2 days before your wedding!} This photo runner will add personality to your wedding and guests will enjoy looking through all of your memories. You can even save the runner and use it as home decor - double bonus!

What you will need:
  • Muslin fabric
    • Length depends on your table size - make sure you account for the length you wan the runner to hang over the table as well!
    • Make the width of the fabric thinner than you want the end result to be
  • Photos - of course!
    • Good to know: a 9' runner takes about 160 photos
    • We suggest using copies of photos and not the originals. Since these will be on the guest tables, it is possible that drinks and food could be spilled on the photos.
  •  Hot glue gun
How to do it:
  • Start at one end and use your hot glue gun to attach the pictures to the muslin fabric
    • Remember: less is more with the hot glue. You don't want globs of hot glue effecting the look of your photos!
  • Overlap the pictures and let them go over the edge of the fabric to cover it completely
  •  It's that simple!

2. Watercolor Place Cards

-->
For an artsy and unique addition to your table settings, try these DIY watercolor place cards. They are simple and sophisticated and will bring some color to your wedding décor. Guests will love to take them home as memorabilia too!

What you will need (for 8 place cards):
  • 2 large pieces of thick handmade watercolor paper
  • Tube(s) of watercolor
    • Your choice of color(s)!
  • 3 bowls
    • Make sure the circumference of your bowl is large enough to fit the width of your place cards
  • Calligraphy pen of your choice
  • Newspaper (for the cards to dry on)

How to do it:
  • Cut or tear paper into desired shape/size—tearing recommended, it adds a cool effect
  •  Mix watercolor with water to create 3 colors with varying intensities
  • Dip paper into lightest color first
    • Dip 3/4 of the way up the card
    • Hold for 30-60 seconds in the watercolor
    • Repeat this step with all of your place cards and set aside on the newspaper to dry
  • Dip paper into the middle color
    • Dip 1/2 way up this time
    • Hold for 60-90 seconds
    • Repeat this step with all of your place cards and set aside on the newspaper to dry
  • Dip paper into the darkest color
    • Dip 1/4 of the way up this time
    • Hold for 60-90 seconds
    • Repeat this step with all of your place cards and set aside on the newspaper to dry
  • Hand calligraphy the names of your guests on the white part a the top of each card OR send them to a professional calligrapher!

Two Sweet Bakers

Who doesn’t love looking forward to a little something to help satisfy their sweet tooth? Anything and everything from multi-tiered wedding cakes, a cupcake tower at your birthday, or cookies at a baby shower, desserts can truly make an event oh-so-sweet (yes! pun intended). However, finding just the right person to make such delectable desserts can sometimes be quite a challenge. For this blog I wanted to introduce two vendors who will make great desserts for any occasion. I interviewed Erica Ohmit, owner of Every Last Crumb: Specialty Cupcakes and More in Fairfield, Ohio and Morgan Anderson, owner of Fancy Pants Sweetz in Columbus, Ohio. Below is a little bit about each company, the baker, and some photos of their work!

Every Last Crumb
Specialty Cakes and More

Erica started Every Last Crumb in October of 2005. She has always been a self proclaimed foodie and thought it would be fun to make birthday cakes for her kids instead of buying them. She started out by doing regular wedding and birthday cakes, but now her business has evolved into more custom orders. She does a lot of custom cupcake orders, like her one- of- a- kind cupcake bouquets, which truly sets her apart from other cupcake businesses in the area.

I wanted to get to know Erica on a more personal level and find out some fun facts that make her the unique baker she is. We all need our creative outlet that gets that juices going. For Erica, being part Scottish, it's all about music; Celtic music to be more specific. Erica says it is calming to her while she bakes the night away.

Erica takes every event or special occasion as a meaningful one and is very humbled to work for a client who reaches out to her. She wants to deliver a design that goes beyond expectations. She prides herself on getting to know her clients and giving them meaningful, delicious, and exciting works of art.

Fun fact: Erica reflected back on a time when she and her husband were setting up a cake. In this instance, the ceremony and reception were both at the same location. As they were setting up, people were passing by taking photos and looking through the glass to view the cake. Erica said she felt like an animal in the zoo with everyone watching her every move! Well no wonder, with my sweet tooth I would have been gawking at that delicious piece of artwork too!

More info:
  • Starting cake price: $3.00/per serving and increases depending on materials and level of design
  • Delivers to: the Cincinnati region
  • What sets her apart: her super cute cupcake bouquets (like the one pictured above)
  • Fun fact: Erica is developing allergy free recipes for her dessert offerings
  • Goal: To open a store front in the next 10 years
  • Erica will be competing in her first competition this year and is very excited to see how that goes

7 Ways to Extend Wedding Day Memories

So many people spend so much time and energy planning their wedding, and rightfully so! After all, it will be one of the most special days of their lives! However, many confess that before they knew it, the day was over and they were headed on their honeymoon to begin their new life together.  Many feel like they blinked and the day they had spent so much time preparing for is over…much too quickly! So, here are 7 fun and creative ways to make your wedding day memories extend far beyond the actual day.  By getting your guests involved through extending advice, laughter or best wishes, you are including them and giving yourself the ability to relive one of the most beautiful days of your life!  Here’s to best wishes for a life filled with laughter, joy and unending love.

{ONE}
Trend Alert! Having a “bucket list” at your wedding has been making headway. Create a bucket list for the bride and groom that guests fill out throughout the day or evening of the event. This one says, “leave a note, an idea, a plan, but most importantly…an adventure!  We promise to complete this list in a lifetime….” This not only allows your guests to explore their creativity by providing you with fun adventures but gives you and your spouse ideas of fun things to complete throughout your lifetime together! Dinner and a movie will soon seem like a boring pastime with this unique list of date ideas!

{TWO}
Some weddings have been veering away from the traditional guest book and finding other original ways to get their guests involved in their special day.  Maybe you could consider having a guest artwork board.  Find a blank board and then paint the initials of the bride and groom and the date of their wedding. Then, allow guests to sign and write notes on it.  This is such a cute staple to cherish and hang in your home together!

{THREE}
Some couples have also been choosing to do another nontraditional guest book by having their guests leave messages in bottles or empty wine glasses for them to open together at a later date.

 {FOUR}
Another great alternative to the traditional guest book is to have the guests take Polaroid pictures.  Some place cameras at every table (to catch things the bride, groom and photographer did not see) or have a photo booth!  This collaboration of pictures can be made into a scrapbook for you to have and hold for years to come. It also gives the guests a copy of the picture too—so they can reminisce on your day!

 {FIVE}

If couples want to hear additional laughs throughout the evening…and have some entertaininment that the can be  saved forever, have your guests fill out Mad Libs featuring the Bride and Groom!

 {SIX}
Another popular trend recently seen at weddings is including an advice jar.  This allows guests the ability to leave the Bride and Groom their very best marriage advice for a lifetime of happiness and love.

 {SEVEN}
Others are getting creative with tab le decorations by placing a notebook as the centerpiece with the table number in the center.  The table number serves two purposes, not only does it tell guests where to sit, but it also signifies what anniversary the bride and groom will open and read the contents inside the notebook.  This way the bride and groom can bring the notebook out at each anniversary, read notes from their loved ones, and be reminded of their special day!  The idea of a time capsule is so fun, guests leave notes inside the time capsule and the bride and groom open it on an anniversary in the future.

There are so many fun and creative ways to have your guests involved in your wedding and far beyond as couples begin their new lives together.  You could even have song requests on the R.S.V.P card, then enjoy as your guests hit the dance floor when their favorite song comes on.  Weddings are a time for celebration, love and laughter!  Hopefully these tips help you include even more happiness into your special day!

Love! Kaitlin
