Intimate, Average, or Major?!

Often times, couples get stuck on deciding what size wedding they should host.  Below are three different ranges that are most common as well as the benefit of each!
2-50 people:
If you’re looking for an intimate event this is the size for you. You can make sure those that are most important to you are present. This is generally the ideal size for destination weddings and backyard affairs. You may think that 50 is a lot of people, but when you think about families it can add up. Generally you have parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and siblings all times two. But the benefit of having such a small gathering is that you can truly spend quality time with each of your guests.

50-175 guests:
This tends to be the average size for weddings. You may think this is a crazy amount compared to your “must have” list but you have to remember you are combining two families. A medium size wedding allows you to have all your friends and family with a little wiggle room. Why not let your mom bring her favorite co-worker who she’s been talking your wedding up to? Just remember your budget when you’re adding more guests. Each additional guest can be up to an additional $50+ once you factor in food, chairs, rentals, favors, etc.
175+ guests:
If you want a major party you’re going to need a major guest list. If you are lucky enough to have a large family and wide variety of friends you’ll want to keep them all included. Family traditions can also make your guest list creep up in to the higher digits. Commonly, Indian weddings tend to have more guests because of their culture. This summer my cousin got married and combined with our family consisting of 70+ people, his family of an equally large number, all of their friends, plus the Indian culture aspect, they had a guest list in the 400’s. While this eases the worry of deciding who to invite and leave off, you need to be more aware of your budget.

I hope this helps you in deciding how many guests to have at your wedding!!
