Escort Cards 101: Everything You Need to Know

Escort cards are often one of the first things your guests will see when they arrive at your reception. There are lots of fun and creative ways to make escort cards and place cards memorable for your guests!

Note: Escort cards and place cards aren’t just for weddings. They can be used at any seated event! In fact, Simply Events just had an event a few weeks ago with 700+ guests. The guests could find their name and assigned table number on slides that played on a screen.

Some of you may or may not know the difference between escort cards and place cards. Escort cards simply inform your guests that you have chosen a table for them. In addition to escort cards, you may want to use place cards. Place cards inform your guests which seat to sit in at the table. For a formal plated dinner, place cards may indicate which meal each guest will receive. (For example, color coded for different entrees or a simple stamp such as a fish or a chicken) To sum it up: escort cards assign tables, place cards assign seats!

If you are considering assigned seating for guests at your reception, there are many creative ways to display escort cards. You may decide that you want incorporate them into the theme of your wedding!

Rustic feel: Utilizing Shutters

Simple and Elegant: Stationary cards

Beach Theme: Seashells and Sand

Sports Theme: Names and tables numbers on tickets

Vintage Theme: Vintage keys attached to the cards

Escort cards can also double as a favor for the guest to take home!

Another fun idea is escort cocktails! Your guests get to enjoy a yummy drink while still being escorted to the correct seat.

For a simpler and cheaper alternative, you could also do an escort board! Instead of cards, just have one board with all the names and table numbers. The guest would look at the board to find their table, but leave the cards on the board. You can be very creative with these as well!

Hopefully now you have a better idea of what an escort card is, and some creative ways to incorporate them into your special day!

Happy Planning!
