Bridalrama 2012

Click here to view all the photos of our Bridalrama booth!

Bridalrama 2012 was AMAZING! We personally want to thank all the brides who came out to visit with us, and we look forward to working with you.

We were so happy with the way our booth turned out! We decided to go with the very popular rustic/shabby chic look this year. We loved the combination of rustic/softness that it displayed.

Everything about Bridalrama was amazing. We had a great turn out, conversed with some great vendors, and met a bunch of amazing brides.

We would like to thank Bridalrama for all of their efforts to arrange this event. Pin It

Simply Day Of

Ok. So this is for all you DIY Brides out there!

We completely understand and appreciate the fact that you want to handle every aspect of your wedding planning. Trust us, we know how fun the planning process is and how special this time of your life is.  With that being said, we also know how stressful the last several weeks of tying down all the loose ends and finalizing all the details can be.  Not to mention, the actual execution of all your hard work that must be implemented on your wedding day.  So, this is where we can help ease the stress and ensure that your special day goes according to plan.

If you answer 'yes' to any of the following questions, you would definitely benefit from hiring Simply Events as your day of coordinator:
  1. Are you having trouble tying up the loose ends?
  2. Do you dream of being stress free on your wedding day?
  3. Do you want to know that all of the details for your special day are taken care of?
  4. Wouldn’t you like to enjoy the FULL day with your family and friends?

As we like to say, "You're the bride; you should be carrying a bouquet, not a clipboard!"

Trash to Fab

It is Wednesday again, and that means we at Simply Events are sharing with our readers another DIY How To! Personally, we love to find old items and breathe life back into them!  Items that we once thought were trash can become fabulous again with just a little bit of love and work.

Take this item for example.

An old, rusty, useless birdhouse.  While it may seem like trash to some, we at Simply Events loved the hidden treasure of possibility that came along with it.  We thought it would be the perfect touch to our Bridalrama booth this weekend, but it needed to be spruced up a little.

What did we do?  Spray painted it of course! It is amazing how a little spritz of spray paint can transform an object from outdated, and useless to new and fabulous!

Make sure the next time you go to throw out an old item, that you take a closer look at it; it may just have the potential to be amazing!! Yard sales, Goodwill, and your grandmother's attic are all places filled with hidden treasure that is just waiting to be reborn!

Be sure to look for our birdhouse redo this weekend at Bridalrama.  Free tickets are still avaliable for anyone who is interested! Pin It

What's Your Number?

On Friday, we asked all our friends on Facebook "How many bridesmaids did you have/are you planning to have at your wedding?"

The results are in!

4-5 bridesmaids is the winner with 10 votes
8 or more bridesmaids came in second place with 6 votes
6-7 bridesmaids and 2-3 bridesmaids tied for third place with 2 votes
And our f.a.v.o.r.i.t.e. response came in during the last seconds of voting with a non-traditional response of 1 Man of Honor & 1 Best Man <3

Even though the average is 4-5 , we believe that there is no perfect number.  Whether you have one woman (or man) by your side or all 8+ friends there to stand up with you, just remember that everyone is there for you and your groom!

Rustic Chic

There is no denying the popularity the shabby chic, rustic, vintage, barnyard wedding theme has gained in the past year.  It is a trend all over Pinterest, and taking the wedding world by storm.  Personally we LOVE it!! We only wish that "popular" look would have been around for our own weddings.  It is a great look due to the fact that "anything goes".  Antiques from your grandmother, Goodwill finds, DIY projects, less expensive flowers....It is the DIY brides dream come true, and also great for any bride on a budget!!

Who knew baby's breath could be so BEAUTIFUL!!!

Do you love the Rustic Chic look as well?  Are you curious what venues in the tri state area would be the perfect match for this "theme"?  Contact us at Simply Events and we would be glad to lead you in the right direction! Pin It

How To Make Baking Cup Centerpieces

In life there is so much to celebrate: birthdays, weddings, babies, anniversaries, etc.  And with all that party planning your bank account can really start to dwindle.  Well, we have an inexpensive DIY centerpiece for your next event!  This adorable decor element costs less than $10 and took only 45 minutes!

Supplies needed:
One 4" styrofoam ball
125 mini baking cups
One pack of straight stick pins

Step 1: Stick a straight pin through the center of a baking cup.

Step 2: Gather the baking cup to a crinkled bunch.

Step 3: Stick the baking cup into the styrofoam ball.

Step 4: Just keep sticking cups into the ball.  Make sure you place them close together to get the desired fullness.  Here is the ball with just 25 baking cups.

You will also notice I placed a towel down to catch all the styrofoam that falls out.

Step 5: Finished product!

Vendor Hiring Prioirty

According to world renowned wedding planner Mindy Weiss, there is an art form to hiring your vendors for your wedding and we couldn't agree more.  Mindy is known for planning celebrity weddings such as Ellen & Portia and Tia Mowry & Cory Hardrict, just to name a couple.

Since much of your wedding is built off vendors who provide a service, dates can book up quickly.  Make sure you book your wedding planner, officiant, venues, and caterer first. Then you can start locking down the rest of your vendors to ensure a smooth day.  The following a list of vendors in the order in which they should be booked, according to Mindy:

50 Shades of Pink

July 29, 2012 is a big day for Simply Events and for many brides to be in the tri state area. On July 29 we will join various vendors and brides-to-be for The Bridalrama Showcase in Cincinnati.  We are so excited to share our experience and services with the brides looking to make their big day one of a kind.

We really wanted to make a statement in our Bridalrama booth (506), and have decided that a vintage styled booth will be the perfect touch. We have brought a modern twist on the classic style, and have chosen pink and teal to be our colors of choice.

A well styled booth is not all the bride-to-be will find by visiting us at Bridalrama.  Upon entering our booth and signing the guest book the bride-to-be will be entered to win a free consultation and gift package.  Brides who sign the guestbook will also be eligible for 10% off a wedding package if they decide that Simply Events is the wedding planning company for them.

We hope you brides-to-be of the tri state stop by our booth at Bridalrama.  Whether or not a wedding planner was on your list of vendors to book, stop by and allow us to show you ways that we can make your big day above and beyond what you previously dreamed.  After all, a bride should carry a bouquet...not a clipboard.

Barbara & Sean's Grand Wedding Venue Search

First off, we want to congratulate Barbara & Sean on their recent engagement. We are so excited to be working with them throughout the entire wedding planning process and are thrilled to be a part of their special day.

On Monday we visited three different venues in Cincinnati - The Cincinnati Club, The Bell Event Centre, and Music Hall.  Obviously Barbara & Sean want a very grand venue for their ceremony and reception!  Each of these places has such unique features and the detail is amazing!

After thinking about all the factors, we have narrowed it down to either The Bell Event Centre or Music Hall, with Music Hall being in the top spot for the couple.  Only time will tell which venue we end up booking. Who knows, it could be completely different from one of these two!

Once Barbara & Sean choose a venue, we will begin working on event design! Stay tuned, lots of details about this amazing wedding to come! :)

Bridesmaids Gift Ideas

So many brides want to show their bridesmaids appreciation through unique gifts. At Simply Events, we are a fan of sticking with the traditional bridal party gifts and simply putting a little twist on them!  Here are three examples of how to spice up three common gifts for your girls!

#1: Sparkly Flask -- Take a note from the traditional groomsman gift and put a woman's touch on it! These 7 flasks are just $143 from etsy.

#2: Custom Made Jewelry -- This is classic gift for your bridesmaids.  However, instead of the basic sting of pearls or simple charm, why not make it personal for each bridesmaids.  You can do this by simply adding their birthstone and/or initial to a custom made necklace, bracelet, or pair of earrings. Here is a set of 4 necklaces for your top ladies for only $96.

#3: Personalized Robes -- Who doesn't like to feel like they are lounging at the spa? Instead of basic t-shirt or tote bag, you can pamper your girls with a super soft monogrammed robe.  Now, that is a gift we would love to receive! Guess what?! We found a set of 10 customized robes on etsy for just $30.50 each!

Owner & Event Coordinator of Simply Events, Catie, showered her bridesmaids with custom made necklaces, bracelets, and earrings.  The jewelry set was made of Swarovski pearls, crystals, and rhinestones and had one Swarovski birthstone bead for each bridesmaids. The birthstone hung from the necklace and bracelet clasps.  Also, hair & makeup for each bridesmaid was a gift from Catie's amazing mother, Lisa Walton!

We want to hear from you! What are you giving your bridesmaids as gifts or what did you give your bridesmaids?

Favorite Wedding Day Traditions

Everyone is familiar with the popular wedding tradition of something borrowed, blue, old, & new; but did you know there are actually thousands of wedding traditions that can be incorporated into your special day?  Here is just one of our all time favorite wedding traditions between the Bride & her bridesmaids.

Bridesmaids sign the bottom of the brides shoes. Tradition says that whoever's name doesn't wear off by the end of the night is the next one to walk down the aisle.

This is a great alternative for the couple who wants to forgo the other traditional element of a wedding -- the bouquet toss.
